When it comes to my exit strategy, I intend to protect the venture as a family business, and pass it down to my children. I have selected this particular strategy because this allows for businesses to grow and prosper over a long period of time. I think that my exit strategy has influenced the other decisions I have made in my concept because I have always looked for ways to grow my business.
Hi Minaa,
ReplyDeleteI think it's always a noble idea to preserve a business and keep it within the family to help support a family as a whole. However, have you thought about what you might do if your children and other family members don't intend to work in the family business? It's entirely possible that family members decided to pursue different career paths or want to make a name for themselves through their own hard work.
In my experience this is normally not the case for every child of a family business but it's definitely a scenario that you will want to think about and plan for.
I described my exit strategy as being one where I would support the company until it was stable and self-sufficient before moving onto another business venture.

Minaa,
ReplyDeleteI think that if you are that passionate about your venture, preserving it by passing it down to your children, if they want to take on the venture, is a wonderful idea. I am not thinking quite so long term with mine, as I see myself going in other directions in my life.

We have a similar exit strategy. I do not think that I would want to even consider leaving the business completely if I built it up from nothing. That is also and awesome thing to pass on to your family.
